Now easier than ever to get into retro game coding (See What’s New)

Spring is here in jollie olde England (in-between days of rain), but as a dutiful retro computing nerd I have been spending my spare time inside, working on resources for our wonderful retro community:

  1. A BASIC interpreter for the web, Windows, Linux, and Mac.
  2. Searchable Docs website covering all the platforms and languages featured in the online Retro IDE.
  3. Adding new platforms and compilers to said IDE.

It's been a lot, and a lot of fun, but it has meant I neglected talking about it as much as I might have, so below are the newest articles and news items :)

Amiga and ST fans have been asking when I would be adding 16-bit support to the online retro IDE since the beginning, so I am relieved to be able to announce they are in place and ready to use, finally! Not only are they supported, but you get AMOS/STOS BASIC, VBCC for C programming, and also TRSE, all right in your web browser with nothing to download, install, or configure πŸ₯³ 8-bit systems were not neglected either, Commodore 128, Plus/4, Nintendo Gameboy, MSX2, Amstrad CPC 464, Atari 800...

I am one of the lucky folks who got a C64 Ultimate (20,000 of us now!) and of course I added my thoughts the many reviews out there, but from a retro programming point of view which I hope helps this community more than "does it play games" that most others focused on ;)You will also see I put together a beginners guide to repairing and refurbishing retro computers. Do let me know if it is helpful or if there is anything missing! Join the community to discuss retro computers, programming, and...

Lots happening on the online retro IDE lately. Firstly I added a new platform, the Commodore PET. You might also notice Atari, Spectrum, and C64 platforms now have ugBASIC with more to come, and the Commodore systems also have XC-BASIC3! These compilers are also featured in my exploration of sprites and bitmap graphics on the C64 you will find linked below.
